Hey everyone, I wanted to share my little adventure today trying to find the perfect dog collar. I really wanted something that felt like our chill, seaside town here, you know? Something that screams ‘Block Island’ vibes.

So, first thing I did was hit up a few local shops. I figured, who better to capture that Block Island essence than the folks who live and breathe it every day, right? Browsed around, saw some nice stuff, but nothing that really jumped out at me. They were all pretty standard, nothing that special.
Then, I thought, why not check out what’s online? Typed in “Block Island dog collar” and bam! Lots of options. Started scrolling through, reading descriptions. Saw a lot about this “A Tail We Could Wag” brand, kept popping up everywhere, all inspired by Block Island and using this laid-back style. Seemed promising, their stuff was all soft colors, very beachy.
Found another one talking about handmade stuff from Guatemala, finished in the US, super colorful and machine washable. That sounded neat, but still wasn’t sure if it was exactly what I was looking for.
But then, you know how it is, you keep digging, and you stumble upon something interesting. I read about these “Teacup” pet collars, locally produced in Rhode Island. They claimed to be high quality and durable, and that kind of resonated with me, sounded like real local pride in their work. Looked into those some more, the designs were simple but cute, and it felt like a good match.
- Started local: Checked out nearby stores, wanted that authentic Block Island feel.
- Went online: Searched for “Block Island dog collar,” found lots of choices.
- Explored brands: “A Tail We Could Wag” caught my eye with their Block Island-inspired designs.
- Considered options: Handmade collars from Guatemala seemed cool but weren’t quite it.
- Dug deeper: Found locally made “Teacup” collars, high quality and locally produced.
Also, came across this little tip about using the “two-finger rule” when putting on a collar. You should be able to fit two fingers underneath, but not be able to rotate them. Good to know, I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Anyway, after all that searching and comparing, I decided to go with one of those Teacup collars. It just felt right, supporting a local Rhode Island business, and getting something that seems well-made and fits that relaxed, Block Island vibe I was after. Now the only thing to be worried about is to select the most suitable size, because I don’t want to see my buddy feel uncomfortable, hope I made the right decision.
