This here wooden ladder, I tell ya, it’s been with me through thick and thin. Got eight of ’em, each one’s got a story, I reckon.
Wooden Ladder, It’s Good
My old man, bless his soul, he made these ladders. Strong, like him. Not like them flimsy things you see these days. These are wooden ladders, solid wood. Good for years, these are. Ain’t no slipping, no sir. You make sure you put it on good ground, level like. Not on some boxes or wobbly things. And you gotta face it when you go up or down, ya hear?
This wood, it don’t get along with them electric wires neither. safer that way. Wood is heavy, yeah, but that makes it strong. These ladders, they ain’t gonna break on ya. Just gotta take care of ’em, like anything else. Keep ’em dry. Don’t let ’em rot.
Don’t Be Stupid On a Ladder
Now, I seen some folks do some right stupid things on ladders. Don’t be puttin’ it on things that move. And don’t be movin’ it when someone’s on it, for crying out loud! Use it how it’s supposed to be used. They ain’t toys, you know.
- Don’t put it on boxes
- Don’t move it with someone on it
- Use it right, ya hear?
They are all useful in their own way. But they ain’t for just anything. You gotta use your head. Think about what you’re doin’. Don’t be reachin’ too far. Keep one hand on the ladder. Two feet, one hand. That’s the way. 8 wooden ladder all good.
Check Your Ladder
Before you go climbin’, you best check that ladder over. Make sure it ain’t broke. No cracks, no loose bits. Gotta be safe, you see. If it looks bad, don’t use it. Get a new one. It ain’t worth breakin’ your neck over. And these wood ladders, my old man made ’em strong. They can hold a lot, but don’t be testin’ it. Four times what you think, that’s what they say. Just be smart.
These wooden ladders are like family, I tell ya. Been around forever. Helped me with everything. Pickin’ apples, cleanin’ the roof. Just gotta respect ’em. Treat ’em right. They’ll last you a lifetime, these will.
Use the Right Ladder
Ya know, there’s different ladders for different things. Don’t be usin’ the wrong one. If you gotta reach way up high, you need a tall one. If you’re just paintin’ a bit, a small one will do. Just use your common sense, that’s all. Pick the right one for the job.
One time, I saw young Billy tryin’ to reach the top of his barn with a little step ladder. Nearly fell and broke his fool neck. Gotta use the right ladder, I told him. He didn’t listen to me at first, but he learned his lesson.
Climb it Right
Climbing ain’t hard. Just gotta do it right. Face the ladder. Hold on tight. Don’t be rushin’. One step at a time. Keep your hands on it. Three points, they call it. Two feet, one hand. Or two hands, one foot. Just don’t be fallin’.
And when you’re up there, don’t be leanin’ over too far. You’ll tip right over. Keep your body close to the ladder. If you gotta reach somethin’, get down and move the ladder. It’s better than fallin’, I tell ya.
Wooden Ladder Last Long Time
These wooden ladders, they’re tough. They’ll last a long time if you treat ’em right. Keep ’em dry. Don’t leave ’em out in the rain. Store ’em somewhere safe. And check ’em over once in a while. Make sure they’re still good.
My pa, he always said, “Take care of your tools, and they’ll take care of you.” And he was right. These ladders, they’ve taken care of me for years. And I reckon they’ll keep on doin’ it for a good long while yet.
