Okay, so, I wanted to get a new cage for my parrot, and I’ve been looking around for a while. I finally decided to go with a stainless steel one, mainly because they’re supposed to be super durable and easy to clean. My bird’s an African Grey, so I needed something the right size, not too big, not too small. After some research, I decided on a 32 x 23 inch cage from A&E – seemed like a good balance between quality and price.

The first thing I did was check out the different brands. There’s this other brand, King’s Cages, that also makes stainless steel cages, but honestly, I hadn’t heard much about them. A&E seemed to have a better reputation, at least from what I could gather online. Plus, when I sorted by price, the A&E ones were a little more in my budget.
Once the cage arrived, I unpacked it. It was pretty straightforward to assemble, just followed the instructions. Took me about an hour, maybe less. I made sure all the parts were there and that nothing was damaged during shipping. Everything looked good, so I continued on.
Next, I started putting it together. The bars are spaced just right, so my parrot can’t squeeze through, which is something I was worried about with other cages. I double-checked all the screws and made sure everything was nice and tight. No wobbly bits or loose parts.
- Cleaning was the next big thing. I laid down some newspaper at the bottom. Someone told me that’s the easiest way to deal with bird messes, and they were right! Just rolled it up and tossed it in the trash.
- I also wiped down the bars with a damp cloth, just to get rid of any dust or anything from the packaging.
- I checked the bottom grate. It slides out easily, and it looks like it’ll be easy to clean. I think I will take it out and wash it every other day.
Finally, I put my parrot in the new cage. He seemed to like it! He started exploring right away, climbing on the bars and checking out his new perches. He seemed pretty happy, so I guess I made the right choice.
A Few More Details
I’ve had the cage for a few weeks now, and so far, so good. It’s definitely easier to clean than my old cage. And it looks really nice in my living room, too. Stainless steel is pretty sleek. I just need to keep an eye out for any signs of wear and tear, but I don’t expect any problems for a while. It looks like this is going to be the home for a long time.
