Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get some new furniture for my cats for a while now. My place is pretty small, you know, kind of like a typical city apartment. So, I started looking around for something that would be cool for them but also wouldn’t take up a ton of space.

I started by checking out some local pet stores. I saw the usual stuff – you know, carpeted cat trees, scratching posts, and those little tunnels. They were okay, but nothing really caught my eye. I wanted something a bit more… modern, I guess? Something that wouldn’t look totally out of place in my living room.
Then I thought, “Why not check online?” So I started browsing, and that’s when I stumbled upon this “urban cat furniture” thing. Lots of cool stuff came up. I spent hours going through different websites, looking at all kinds of crazy designs. Wall-mounted shelves, these sleek little cat beds, and even some really elaborate climbing structures.
Checked Out Some Real Cool Stuff
I saw this one set, it was like, a 5-piece wall-mounted thing made of wood. It looked really nice, all-natural and stuff. It had a couple of platforms, a hammock, and even a little sisal rope for them to scratch on. I thought, “Hey, this could work.” But then, I kept looking. I mean, you gotta see all your options, right?
- Found some stuff on a site called Wayfair
- Looked for unique and custom made pieces
I found this other company that makes these really minimalist cat shelves. They were just simple platforms, but they looked super sturdy, and you could arrange them however you wanted on the wall. I was really digging those. It felt like something that would actually make my cats happy and give them their own little space without cluttering up my apartment.
I kept browsing, and honestly, I got a little overwhelmed. There were so many options! I started thinking about what my cats really like. They love to be up high, they love to have hiding spots, and they definitely need to scratch. So, I decided to focus on furniture that would give them those things.
Finally Decided
After a lot of back and forth, I decided to go with the wall-mounted shelves. I figured I could customize the layout to fit my space perfectly and give my cats the ultimate climbing and perching experience. I ordered a few different sizes and shapes, and I also got a couple of those scratching posts that you can mount on the wall, too.
When the stuff arrived, I was pretty excited. It took a little bit of work to install everything, but once it was up, it looked amazing! My cats were a little hesitant at first, but they quickly warmed up to it. Now, they spend hours up on their shelves, napping, playing, and just chilling out. It’s like their own little urban jungle in my apartment. I’m so glad I went with the “urban cat furniture” idea. It’s perfect for city living with cats, and they absolutely love it! It’s made them happy for sure.
This whole thing turned out to be a win-win. My cats are happy, my apartment still looks good, and I didn’t have to sacrifice style for functionality. Pretty sweet deal, if you ask me.
