Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about getting a large dog grooming tub for a while now. My golden retriever, Buddy, is a big boy, and bath time in my regular tub? Forget about it. It’s a mess, my back kills me, and he’s not exactly thrilled either. So, I finally decided to take the plunge (pun intended) and get a proper grooming tub.

First thing’s first, I had to figure out what kind of tub I even needed. I started looking online, and man, there are a lot of options! Stainless steel, polyethylene, walk-in, folding… it was a bit overwhelming. I knew I wanted something sturdy and big enough for Buddy, and ideally something that wouldn’t rust or get gross easily. After reading a ton of reviews, I narrowed it down to a stainless steel tub, probably around 50 inches long.
Then came the brand research. I saw some names pop up a lot, like Master Equipment, PetLift, and VEVOR. Some were super expensive, which, you know, ouch. I’m not a professional groomer, just a guy trying to bathe his dog without breaking the bank (or my back). I read that TriStar Vet had some good step-in tubs, which sounded pretty neat. I also found a brand called Flying Pig that had a 58-inch seamless polyethylene tub, but I was still leaning towards stainless steel.
I ended up finding this 50-inch stainless steel tub from a company that had decent reviews and was in my price range. It even had stairs! Which is great because lifting a wet, 90-pound dog is no joke. This one could handle up to 260 * also came with a faucet, a leash, and a removable floor grill. Sounded pretty good to me.
I ordered it, and let me tell you, when that thing arrived, it was HUGE. Assembly was… an experience. Thankfully, my neighbor came over to help, and we managed to get it all put together in my garage. It definitely took up some space, but it looked awesome.
Now for the real test: bath time. I filled the tub halfway up with warm water, just like I read I should do. I got Buddy, coaxed him up the stairs with some treats, and clipped on the leash. He was a little hesitant at first, but I kept petting him and talking to him in that silly voice I use. Once he was in, I used the faucet to get him all wet. The water pressure was good, and the sprayer made it way easier to rinse him off. The whole setup was a game-changer.
- No more back pain from bending over my bathtub.
- Buddy seemed much more relaxed in the grooming tub.
- Cleanup was a breeze compared to the usual bathroom disaster.
Honestly, I wish I’d gotten one of these things sooner. It’s made bath time so much easier and less stressful for both me and Buddy. If you’ve got a big dog and you’re tired of the bath time struggle, I highly recommend investing in a good grooming tub. It’s worth it!
