Alright, so a few days ago, I got my hands on this Ultra Collection Dog Shampoo, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the experience. I have this adorable little golden retriever named Max, and his fur, while beautiful, tends to get a bit, well, funky after a while. So, I figured, why not give this fancy-sounding shampoo a try?

First off, I had to make sure I had everything ready. Towels, the shampoo, and of course, a very willing (or not so willing) Max. I remembered reading somewhere that getting the right amount of shampoo is important, especially for different-sized dogs. Because Max isn’t that big yet, I guessed a tablespoon would be enough. You don’t want to use too much and make a mess or get their skin itchy, right?
The bottle mentioned something about diluting it, which makes sense. You wouldn’t want to irritate your skin, or your dog’s, by using it straight out of the bottle. I mixed the shampoo with some water in a separate container. It felt just about right – not too thick, not too watery.
The Bathing Process
Getting Max into the bath was the usual struggle. He’s not the biggest fan of water, but once he was in, he was pretty chill. I started by wetting his fur thoroughly, making sure to avoid his eyes and ears. Then, I applied the diluted shampoo, starting from his back and working my way down. I massaged it in gently, just like I saw some groomer do in a video once. It lathered up pretty nicely, and I could see the dirt and grime coming off. The shampoo had this light, pleasant scent, kind of like lavender, but not too strong. I’ve heard that some dog shampoos have stuff like lavender or chamomile to make the dogs relaxed, but I’m not sure if it worked, Max still tried to jump out a couple times!
- Wetting: Got Max all wet, avoiding his face.
- Shampooing: Used the diluted shampoo, massaged it in well.
- Rinsing: Made sure all the shampoo was out, which took a while.
- Drying: Used a couple of towels to dry him off as much as possible.
The Aftermath
After the bath, I towel-dried Max as much as I could, then let him loose in the yard to air dry. He seemed to enjoy shaking himself off, sending water droplets everywhere. Classic dog move, right? Once he was dry, his fur looked amazing! It was so soft and fluffy, and he smelled really good. Even better, his skin didn’t seem irritated at all. It looked healthy, not red or anything.
So, yeah, using the Ultra Collection Dog Shampoo was a success. It wasn’t too much hassle, and the results were pretty great. I think I’ve found my go-to shampoo for Max. His coat is shiny, his skin is healthy, and he smells like a fresh meadow, or at least something close to it. It’s definitely better than that wet dog smell, that’s for sure!
