Alright, let’s yak about them small dog collars with bows, you know, the ones for them little yappy dogs.

What are these collars, anyway?
Well, it’s like this, them little dogs, they need collars too, just like the big fellas. But these ain’t your plain ol’ collars, no sirree. These got bows on ’em! Makes ’em look all fancy and cute, you know? Like they’re goin’ to a doggy tea party or somethin’. Some folks call ’em “everyday collars”, means your dog can wear ’em all the time, sleepin’, eatin’, chasin’ squirrels, you name it.
Why get one with a bow?
Now, I reckon some folks just think they’re purdy. Can’t argue with that. A little bow, maybe a flower or somethin’ danglin’ off it, makes your dog look real special. And let’s be honest, who don’t like a cute dog? It’s like dressin’ up a little doll, I guess, but this one barks and wags its tail. Some of them collars even got sparkly things on ’em! My neighbor’s dog, little Fluffy, she’s got one with a pink bow and little shiny bits. Looks like a dang princess, that dog does.
What kinds of bows you got?
Oh, honey, you got all sorts! Big bows, little bows, bows made of ribbon, bows made of leather, even bows that light up! Yes sir, light up bows! For them night-time walks, I reckon. Keeps your little fella safe and lookin’ snazzy. You got your plain colors, your reds, your blues, your pinks. Then you got your patterns, polka dots, stripes, even little doggy paw prints! It’s a whole world of bows out there, I tell ya. And if you can’t find what you want, well, I bet you can find someone to make you one special. Folks are always makin’ things these days.
Where do you get these collars?
Well, you can get ’em at most pet stores, I reckon. The big ones, the little ones, they all seem to have ’em. Or you can go online, that’s where my daughter gets everything these days. She says you can find anythin’ on that “inter-net” thingy. Says you can even get collars with leashes, matching sets, she calls ’em. Girl dog collar and leash sets, she says. And if your dog’s a puller, always yankin’ on that leash, you might need somethin’ stronger, like a special training collar. My daughter talks about “martingale collars”, but she loses me sometimes with all that fancy talk. All I know is, those help stop the dog from draggin’ you down the street. You can buy those online too, she says. Lots of online pet stores sell ‘em.
- Pet stores got ’em.
- Online stores got ’em too.
- Maybe even flea markets or craft fairs, if you’re lucky.
How to choose the right collar?
Well, first off, you gotta measure your dog’s neck, right? Don’t want it too tight, chokin’ the poor thing. Don’t want it too loose, either, or it’ll slip right off. And think about your dog’s personality, I guess. Is your dog a rough-and-tumble kind of dog? Then maybe you need a sturdy collar. Is your dog a delicate little flower? Then maybe a fancy one with a big bow is just the ticket. And think about the color, you want somethin’ that looks good on your dog, right? Match it to their fur, or their eyes, or just pick your favorite color. It ain’t rocket science, you know?

Taking care of the collar
Now, these collars, they get dirty, you know? Dogs roll around in the mud, they play in the dirt, they get into all sorts of mischief. So you gotta clean the collar every now and then. Some of ’em you can just wipe down with a damp cloth. Some of ’em you might have to wash in the sink. And if it’s got lights or somethin’ fancy, well, you gotta be careful, don’t want to ruin it. My daughter says some are even waterproof! Like for those dogs who love swimmin’. They call it “IP68 waterproof” but that’s just a bunch of gibberish to me. Point is, some collars can handle getting wet without gettin’ ruined. And if the bow gets all squished or frayed, well, you might have to replace it. Or maybe tie a new one on, if you’re crafty.
Other things to consider
Some of these collars got lights on ’em, like I said. Rechargeable dog collar lights, for walkin’ at night. That’s a good idea, keeps your dog safe. And some of ’em got little tags where you can write your dog’s name and your phone number, in case they get lost. That’s important, you don’t want to lose your little buddy. And some of them even have charms, like little flowers or bones or somethin’. Makes it even fancier, I guess. Designer dog collar with flower charms, that’s what the fancy folks call ’em.
So there you have it, a whole lotta yakkin’ about small dog collars with bows. They’re cute, they’re practical, and they keep your little dog safe. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it?
