Okay, so the other day I was thinking about what to feed my furry friend, and I remembered this brand called “Chicken Soup for the Soul.” Sounds kinda funny, right? I mean, chicken soup is usually what we think of for, well, our souls, not for our dogs.

Anyways, I decided to give it a shot. I did a bit of reading first, like I always do. Found out their food is made right here in the good ol’ USA. Good start!
They’ve got this dry food, grain-free stuff, that caught my eye. My dog’s been a little itchy lately, so I figured maybe cutting out grains could help. The ingredients list was pretty straightforward: chicken, turkey, some kind of chicken meal, barley, rice, peas, you get the idea. Even had some fancy words like “glucosamine” and “chondroitin” which are supposed to be good for joints. Oh, and it’s got flaxseed and even some tomato stuff in there, too.
First I checked the bag – it’s nothing fancy, just your regular pet food bag. But the words “Chicken Soup for the Soul” were sure a big eyecatcher. They say it’s designed to keep the food fresh, and you just gotta seal it up tight after opening. I don’t have any pesky critters in my house, but if you do, you might wanna pop it in a separate container just to be safe.
I scooped out a serving for my pup, and let me tell you, he went to town on it! He’s usually not too picky, but he seemed to really enjoy this stuff. I guess that chicken and turkey combo is a winner.
Now, I know some folks might be thinking, “Can I just give my dog actual chicken noodle soup?” I saw that question online, too. Turns out, that’s a big no-no. Apparently, onions and garlic, which are in most soups, are really bad for dogs. So, stick to the dog food, folks.
It’s still early days, but I’m hopeful this “Chicken Soup for the Soul” food will do my dog some good. Maybe his itching will calm down, and he’ll just be a happier, healthier pup overall. I’ll definitely keep an eye on him and see how it goes.
To sum it up, here’s what I did:
- Researched the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” brand.
- Chose their grain-free dry food formula.
- Read the ingredients list and checked the bag design.
- Fed it to my dog, who seemed to love it.
- Learned that real chicken noodle soup is bad for dogs.
- Decided to monitor my dog’s health and see how he does on the new food.
I will share more updates after my dog has been on this food for a while. Wish me luck!
