Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about dog food, the kind with salmon and lamb. You know, for them picky eaters or dogs with itchy skin. My old Bess, she had a belly like a cement mixer, couldn’t eat just anythin’. So, I learned a thing or two about this fancy food.

Salmon for Dogs: Good for the Skin and More
Now, salmon, that’s a fish, right? Smells kinda strong, but dogs seem to love it. And it’s good for ’em, real good. I heard tell it’s got them omega thingamajigs, omega-3 and omega-6, somethin’ like that. Anyways, these things, they help with the dog’s skin. You know, if your dog’s scratchin’ and bitin’ at theirself all the time, salmon might just be the ticket.
- Helps with the itchy skin, makes their fur shine like a new penny.
- Cuts down on the swelling, you know, if they got a sore paw or somethin’.
- Just plain good for ’em, keeps ’em healthy and happy.
I ain’t no fancy vet, mind you, but I seen it with my own eyes. Dogs that were lookin’ mangy and miserable, they start eatin’ this salmon stuff and bam! They’re runnin’ around like pups again. There’s this stuff called Natural Balance, and some other high-falutin’ brands like Royal Canin, Hill’s, and Purina ProPlan, they all make food with salmon in it. Just gotta look for it.
Lamb for Dogs: Easy on the Tummy
Then there’s lamb. You know, those little woolly critters. Lamb’s good too, ‘specially if your dog’s got a sensitive belly. Can’t keep nothin’ down? Always got the runs? Lamb might be the answer. It’s gentle on their insides, doesn’t upset their stomach like some other foods can.
Important thing is: No Chicken! If your dog is allergic to somethin’ always check the label real good. Make sure there ain’t no chicken in it. Some of that fancy dog food still sneaks chicken in there. Gotta be careful.
What if the Regular Food Don’t Work?
Now, sometimes even salmon and lamb ain’t enough. Some dogs, they’re just allergic to everything under the sun. That’s when you gotta get the real special stuff. I heard tell about “hydrolyzed” food. Sounds fancy, huh? Basically, they take the food and break it down so small the dog’s body can’t even tell it’s somethin’ it’s allergic to. Stuff like Hill’s Prescription Diet z/d and Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA, that’s the good stuff.
And if that don’t work, well, there’s always the weird stuff. You know, like venison, duck, or even kangaroo! I ain’t never seen a kangaroo in my life, but I guess they make dog food out of ’em. Point is, there’s always somethin’ you can try.
So, Which One is Best? Salmon or Lamb?

Well, that depends on your dog, don’t it? If they got itchy skin, salmon’s probably the way to go. If they got a sensitive belly, lamb might be better. Honestly, both are good choices for dogs with allergies. You might have to try both to see which one works best. And don’t be afraid to talk to the vet. They know more than this old woman, that’s for sure.
But remember, good food ain’t cheap, and cheap food ain’t good. You gotta spend a little extra to keep your dog healthy and happy. It’s worth it though, seein’ them wag their tail and run around. That’s all that matters.
Anyways, that’s all I know about salmon and lamb dog food. Hope it helps y’all out. Now go on and take care of them furry critters, they deserve the best.
