Okay, here’s my story about switching my dog over to Veterinary Select canned dog food. I’ve got this golden retriever, Max, who’s been having some tummy troubles lately. He’s always had a bit of a sensitive stomach, but recently it seemed to be getting worse. Lots of loose stools, if you know what I mean. Not fun for him, and definitely not fun for me to clean up!

So, I started doing some digging. I wanted to figure out what the heck was going on with him. I read a ton of stuff online. It seemed like every other website was talking about food allergies. Turns out, a lot of dogs are sensitive to stuff like wheat, corn, and soy. Who knew, right? I mean, it’s all marketing, I’m pretty sure. But I was getting desperate.
Trial and Error
First, I tried a few of those fancy, “grain-free” brands – Blue Buffalo, Wellness CORE, you know, the ones that cost an arm and a leg. Max seemed to like them okay, but his stomach issues didn’t really improve much. I tried them for a week, but, man, he still had the runs.
- Tried Blue Buffalo for a week
- Moved on to Wellness CORE – no change
- Even gave Merrick a shot – nope
Then, I talked to my vet. He suggested I try a special kind of food called Veterinary Select. He said it was designed for dogs with health problems, including sensitive stomachs. I looked into it, and it seemed like they used pretty decent ingredients, and avoided the usual suspects like corn and wheat. No more marketing tricks, I was convinced.
Switching to Veterinary Select
I decided to give it a shot. I picked up a few cans of the Veterinary Select canned dog food. The first thing I noticed was that Max seemed to really enjoy it. He’d gobble it down way faster than his old food. This was a relief to me as a picky-eater dog owner.
And then, the real magic happened. Within a few days, his stools started to firm up. No more diarrhea! I was so relieved. It was like a miracle. I stuck to the feeding schedule, and he was back to his old self.
The Results
It’s been a few weeks now, and Max is doing great. His stomach problems are completely gone. He’s got more energy, his coat looks shinier, and he just seems happier overall. And, for me, no more cleaning nightmares. I mean, I’m not saying I was happy, but, you know, it was a big change.
So, yeah, that’s my story about Veterinary Select canned dog food. If your dog’s having tummy issues, it might be worth checking out. It definitely worked wonders for my Max! Just remember to chat with your vet first, just to be safe. Every dog is different, you know? Don’t be afraid to do trial and error, but don’t give up, alright?
