My grandson, he come over the other day, showin’ me somethin’ on his phone ’bout next level giant breed dog food. Says I should get some for our Bruno. Bruno, he’s a big fella, bigger than any dog I ever seen. Eats like a horse, that one. I always fed the dogs what was on sale down at the market, never thought much ’bout it.
This giant breed dog food, though, it’s supposed to be somethin’ special. They say it’s good for their bones, ’cause these big dogs, they got a lot of weight to carry, you know? Bruno, he’s a good boy, but he’s gettin’ up there in years, and I worry ’bout his joints, especially in the winter when it gets cold. The bones, they start aching, just like mine.
My grandson, he’s a smart one, always readin’ somethin’. He says regular dog food ain’t always good enough, ‘specially for a big dog like Bruno. Says this stuff got all the good stuff in it, like, uh, “pro-teen” and “fat”, but the good kind, not like the fat on that old ham I cooked last Sunday. And somethin’ called “cal-see-um”. Says it’s like milk for their bones, makes ’em strong.
I don’t know much ’bout all that, but I trust my grandson. He wouldn’t steer me wrong. He went on and on ’bout “carbs” – somethin’ dogs don’t need, he says. Like they’re on one of them diets, like my neighbor, Mildred. No bread for Bruno, I guess! And “fillers,” that’s somethin’ bad, he says, somethin’ they put in the cheap food to make it look like more.

- Says it’s good for big dogs, helps ’em stay healthy, not too fat, not too skinny.
- And strong bones! That’s the important part, he says.
He showed me some writin’ on his phone, somethin’ ’bout feedin’ the dog accordin’ to its weight. Bruno, he’s a heavy one, gotta be more than 80 pounds, for sure. Maybe even a hundred! He’s a big boy. And somethin’ ’bout how active they are. Now, Bruno, he used to run all over the place, chasin’ squirrels and what not. Now, he mostly sleeps on the porch, but he still likes a good walk.
And this next level dog food, they say you can just leave it out, and the dog will only eat what he needs. That sounds good. I always worry ’bout overfeedin’ him. Don’t want him gettin’ too fat. My grandson says these big dogs, they can “self-regulate” – that’s a fancy word for eatin’ just enough.
This Gentle Giant food, they say it’s got all kinds of good stuff in it. Vitamins and minerals, somethin’ called “o-mega fatty acids.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d put on your salad! They say it’s good for their coat, makes it shiny. Bruno, his coat’s gettin’ a little dull these days, so maybe that would help.
I remember my old dog, Buster, he lived to be a ripe old age. Ate table scraps mostly, and whatever we could spare. But times are different now, I guess. They got all this fancy food, even for dogs. And if it keeps Bruno healthy and happy, well, maybe it’s worth it. He says it is next level giant breed dog food, after all.
This food, it’s somethin’ special, he says. “World Class Canine Nutrition” is what he called it. Sounds mighty fancy, don’t it? If it means Bruno’s tail keeps waggin’ for a few more years, then I reckon it’s worth a try. He’s a good boy, that Bruno. Deserves the best, even if it is some fancy giant breed dog food.
I told him that next time he is here, we’ll buy some of that food. I don’t understand the “inter-net”, but he can do it on his phone. It is simple for him. He will find where to get it. I don’t know. I don’t have a “smart phone”. For me it is better to go to the store, but he says that it is cheaper on the “inter-net”. Well, we will see.
He also said that this next level giant breed dog food is good for the dog’s gut. Less poop, he says. Now that would be good. Less to clean up. I am not as young as before and cleaning up after Bruno is not so easy anymore. He is a good dog, but a lot of work!
He says that this Gentle Giant dog food is made with good stuff, no GMOs, he says. I don’t know what that is, but he says it is bad. I believe him. He is a smart boy. I don’t need to know what that is. If it is bad, I don’t want it in Bruno’s food. Simple as that.
So, if you have a big dog like my Bruno, maybe you should think about this food. It is probably good for them. I don’t know much about these things, but I think it is better to give them good food. Makes sense. If you eat good, you feel good. Same for the dogs, I guess. And this next level giant breed dog food, well, it sounds like the best there is. At least that’s what my grandson says, and he’s usually right about these things. I will try anything that will keep my Bruno happy and healthy. He is my good boy.
