Okay, so the other day I was staring at my dog, he’s a picky eater, and I’m always trying to make sure he gets his meals down. I started thinking, there’s gotta be a way to make this dry kibble more appealing, right? That’s when I decided to experiment a bit with some food toppers.

First thing I did was grab some plain yogurt from the fridge. I remember reading somewhere that it’s good for their gut, so why not? I just scooped a small dollop on top of his food. He seemed to like it, but I wanted to try more.
Next, I cooked up some carrots. Just boiled them until they were soft, then chopped them up real fine. I sprinkled those on his kibble. He’s always loved carrots, so this was a hit! He gobbled it all down.
- Plain yogurt: A spoonful on top of the food.
- Cooked carrots: Boiled and finely chopped.
Then, I got a bit adventurous and tried pumpkin puree. I had a can in the pantry, so I just added a small amount to his bowl. It was another success! He seemed to really enjoy the new flavor and texture.
I also tried adding a tiny bit of low-sodium chicken broth. I just poured a little over his dry food to moisten it up. This made it smell more enticing, and he definitely ate it with more gusto.

So, after a few days of these experiments, I’ve definitely noticed a difference. He’s more excited about meal times, and he’s been cleaning his bowl every time. It’s such a relief to see him eating well and enjoying his food. I feel like a good dog dad, figuring out these little hacks to make his meals better. Plus, it’s kinda fun to mix things up and see what he likes best. Definitely gonna keep doing this!
