Okay, so, I’ve been trying to be more eco-conscious, you know? And it got me thinking about my dog, Max’s, food. I mean, the amount of packaging we go through is kinda crazy. So I started looking into this whole “green bag dog food” thing.

I started by just browsing online, reading articles, you know, the usual. There’s a lot of talk about “eco-friendly” and “sustainable” when it comes to pet food these days. But what does that even mean, right? From what I gathered, it seems like a big part of it is about the ingredients and how they’re sourced.
Finding the Right Bag
Then I started checking out specific brands. I noticed a few of the bags are made with recycled materials, which is cool. Some even looked more simple, maybe there is less processing or something, not too sure. I also read that some brands use fewer fillers in their food. Less fillers should mean better quality, maybe more nutrients for Max. Makes sense, I guess.
Checking the Labels
Of course, I compared the labels of the green bag options to Max’s current food. You gotta make sure your pup is getting the right stuff, especially since Max is a pretty active adult dog. We do a lot of walks and playing at the park. Protein and calorie content are super important. Some of the “green” brands seemed a bit lacking in that department, but I did find a few that looked promising.
- Looked for “complete and balanced” on the label.
- Compared protein and fat percentages.
- Made sure there were no weird ingredients I didn’t recognize.
Don’t Forget Your Pup
I also found some information about foods you should never give your dog, like chocolate, grapes, onions… that’s common sense to some people, but not to others, you’d be surprised! But I did learn that tomatoes are okay sometimes, but not always. I started to learn more about natural pet nutrition. There was this guy, I think his name was Keith Allison, who was really into it. I read a bit about what he did, pretty interesting stuff.
Anyway, I finally settled on a green bag food that seemed like a good fit for Max. I decided to gradually introduce it into his diet, mixing it with his old food. He seems to like it so far! It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m feeling pretty good about this switch. It’s a small step, but hopefully, it makes a little bit of a difference, you know?
We switched to a green bag option for Max! Now he’s part of the eco-friendly gang!
I will write more about pet food in the future, so stay tuned!
