I needed to build a safe spot for my dog, Buddy, so he could play outside without wandering off. I decided to go with chain link kennel panels because I heard they were strong and not too hard to put up myself.
First, I looked around to see what was out there. I checked out some stores in person and read a bunch of reviews online. It seemed like people were pretty happy with the chain link panels, saying they were durable and a good deal.
Next, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I got the panels, some posts, a gate, and all the little bits and pieces to connect everything. Oh, and a roof, so Buddy would be protected from rain or sun.

Then, I started building. I dug holes for the posts and made sure they were steady by pouring some concrete in there. After that, I attached the panels to the posts, which was a bit of a workout, but not too bad. I made sure everything was lined up straight and tight.
Putting the gate in was a bit tricky. I had to make sure it would swing open and close smoothly. It took a few tries, but I finally got it right.
Finally, I added the roof. This was important because I wanted to make sure Buddy had some shade and wouldn’t get soaked if it rained. I just attached some sturdy material to the top of the panels. It can keep the rain out.
Once it was all done, I let Buddy check it out. He seemed pretty happy to have his own little space outside. Now, I feel way better knowing he’s safe and sound when he’s playing in the yard. The whole thing took a weekend, but it was worth it to see Buddy so happy. To be honest, building that kennel was a pretty good feeling.
