Okay, so, I’ve always been a huge dog person. My furry buddy, Max, he’s like my shadow. Follows me everywhere, even sleeps at the foot of my bed. But I started noticing he wasn’t getting the best sleep, always shifting, sometimes even falling off. Felt bad, you know? So I thought, why not give him his own comfy spot right next to me?

That’s when I got this idea to build an attachment for my bed, just for Max. I’m no carpenter, but hey, how hard could it be, right? First thing, I measured the side of my bed and jotted down some rough dimensions for Max’s new bed. He’s a medium-sized dog, so I figured a decent-sized platform would do.
Next up, I went to the local hardware store. I grabbed some wood, screws, and a few brackets. I picked a soft, plush fabric for the top, something Max would love to snuggle into. Back home, I started by cutting the wood. It wasn’t perfect, some edges were a bit rough, but it was starting to look like a mini bed frame.
- Measured the bed and sketched a design.
- Gathered all the materials from the store.
- Cut the wood and assembled the frame.
Then came the fun part – attaching the frame to my bed. I used those brackets and screwed them in. It was a bit tricky, making sure everything was level and secure. After a few tries, and a couple of crooked screws, I finally got it right. The frame was sturdy and flush against my bed. I added some padding on top and covered it with that plush fabric I got. It looked pretty inviting, if I do say so myself.
The Result
When Max saw it, he was curious. He sniffed around, then cautiously hopped on. And guess what? He loved it! He curled up right away and looked so content. It was a total win. Now, we both sleep soundly, side by side. It’s like we’ve got our own little zones, but still together. Building that bed attachment was one of the best things I’ve done. It’s not just a bed; it’s like a little piece of our shared space. Every night, seeing him so comfy makes all that effort totally worth it.
