I’ve been thinking about getting a new dog box for a while now. My old one, well, it’s seen better days. It’s gotten a bit rusty, and the door doesn’t latch properly anymore. So, I figured it was time for an upgrade.

First thing I did was measure my dog. I had him stand up and I measured him from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail. Then, I had him sit and I measured him from the top of his head to the floor. I added about 4 inches to each measurement, just to make sure he’d have plenty of room to move around. This was to get the right size, you know?

I saw a lot of those fancy, custom-made ones, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend that much money, I mean, they are nice and all but not what I wanted. Then I stumbled upon this website, I think it was called “Etsy” or something, where people make and sell their own stuff. There were a bunch of handmade dog boxes on there, and some of them looked pretty good.

But I also wanted to see what the second-hand market had to offer. I mean, why not save a few bucks, right? I found a couple of local listings for used dog boxes, and I contacted a few sellers. Some of them were pretty beat up, but I found one that was in decent condition and a good price, and also good reviews of the seller.

I ended up buying a sturdy-looking, used dog box from a guy. It’s made of this 3mm thick aluminum, all welded together. I went to pick it up, met the guy, he seemed like a stand-up dude, and we loaded it into my truck. It was a bit heavy, but I managed.

When I got it home, I gave it a good cleaning, scrubbing it down with soap and water. Then I set it up in my truck bed. It fits perfectly! I added a comfy bed inside for my dog. I think he’s going to love it. He can stretch out, stand up, and turn around without any issues, and also, he can’t chew on any electrical cords or eat harmful substances now when we are outside! A good thing, right?

I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out. I got a solid dog box without breaking the bank. Plus, it’s always nice to support local folks. If you’re looking for a dog box, I’d recommend checking out both new and used options. You might be surprised at what you can find! It doesn’t have to be brand-new to be great.
