Alright, so you want to know about this bone shaped dog cake, huh? Well, lemme tell you, it ain’t as fancy as it sounds. It’s just a cake, but it looks like a bone. My neighbor, she made one for her little yappy dog, Sparky. Said it was his birthday.

How to make a cake
She used some flour, that much I know. And eggs, gotta have eggs for a cake. Sugar too, to make it sweet, though that dog don’t need no more sugar, he’s hyper enough as it is. And some other stuff, baking soda, maybe some oil. I don’t really pay too much attention when I’m baking.
First, you gotta mix all the dry stuff together. That’s the flour and the baking soda, or powder, or whatever it is. I always get them mixed up. Then you gotta mix the wet stuff, the eggs and the oil, maybe some milk. Then you dump ’em all together and mix it up real good. Don’t want no lumps in your cake, no sir.
Bake that cake
Then you pour it in a pan. Now, for a bone shaped dog cake, you gonna need a special pan. They sell ’em at the store, I seen ’em. Shaped like a bone. Otherwise, you can use a regular pan and then cut it into a bone shape. But that seems like a lot of work to me. Just get the right pan. My neighbor, she said that Sparky ate it all up. That dog will eat anything, though.
- Flour
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Oil
- Baking soda
Bake it in the oven, ’til it’s done. I don’t know how long, maybe 30 minutes? Just poke it with a toothpick, if it comes out clean, it’s done. Don’t overbake it, or it’ll be dry as a bone. And we don’t want that, not even for a dog cake.
That dog don’t know it’s a bone
Now, I don’t know why you gotta make it bone-shaped. That dog don’t know the difference. He’d eat it if it was shaped like a shoe. Dogs ain’t too picky, you know. But I guess it looks cute. And folks like to do special things for their pets these days. Me, I just give my old cat a can of tuna. She’s happy with that. She doesn’t need a bone shaped dog cake.
Some people, they put frosting on these cakes. Peanut butter frosting, I seen that. Dogs love peanut butter. My neighbor she used some special dog-friendly frosting. I didn’t know there was such a thing! She said you can’t give dogs too much sugar, it’s bad for ’em. I guess that’s true. They don’t need to be any more hyper. But I think, she just loves to spoil that dog. He has more toys than my grandkids!
Cake for a dog
If you do a bone shaped dog cake, I guess it’s a nice thing to do. But don’t go spending a fortune on it. It’s just a cake, for a dog. He ain’t gonna appreciate it like a person would. He’s just gonna gobble it down, bone shape or not. But if it makes you happy, then go for it. Who am I to judge? I just think it’s a little silly, that’s all.
Remember to use good stuff, even if it’s for a dog. Fresh eggs, good flour. Don’t use that old stuff that’s been sitting in your cupboard for a year. And make sure that baking soda, or powder, or whatever it is, ain’t expired. That stuff can go bad, you know. And don’t be leaving out the cake, either. That dog will eat the whole thing.
You can also add some other stuff to the cake, like carrots. I heard some people put carrots in their dog cakes. I don’t know why, dogs like meat, not carrots. But maybe it’s healthy for them. Or applesauce. That might make it moist. Just don’t put no chocolate in there, that’s bad for dogs, real bad. And no onions, either. Gotta be careful what you give them.
It’s just a cake
I saw a lady on TV one time, she made a whole wedding cake for her dogs. Two little dogs, dressed up in a little suit and a little dress. It was the craziest thing I ever saw. And a big fancy cake, just for them. I guess some people got more money than sense. That’s a bone shaped dog cake, taken to a whole other level.

If your dog likes it, that is all that matters. Dogs are good company. They don’t talk back, they don’t judge you, they just love you. So I guess it’s okay to spoil ’em a little bit. Just don’t go overboard, like that lady on TV. A simple bone shaped dog cake is plenty. He’ll be happy with that, I’m sure.
So there you have it. That’s all I know about that bone shaped dog cake. If you are going to make one, make sure the ingredients are safe for dog. Don’t go using stuff that’s gonna make your dog sick. And don’t overdo it. It’s just a cake, for a dog. He’ll love you just the same, cake or no cake. But I reckon it’s a nice little treat, if you’re so inclined. Just don’t tell my cat I said that. She’ll be wanting a fish-shaped cake next.
