Okay, so I’ve been meaning to share this for a while, and today’s the day. It’s about making freeze-dried beef treats for your dogs. I’ve got two fur babies myself, a Golden Retriever and a little দুষ্টু Pomeranian, and let me tell you, they’re picky eaters. But these treats? They go nuts for them!

First off, I had to get my hands on some good quality beef. I went to my local butcher, the one I always trust for my Sunday roasts. I picked up a nice chunk of lean beef, you know, the kind that’s not too fatty. I figured, if it’s good enough for me, it’s good enough for my pups.
Next up, I had to slice the beef. I made sure to cut it into small, bite-sized pieces. I kept in mind that these will shrink during the freeze-drying process. It took a bit of time, but I was careful, that was so important.
Then came the actual freeze-drying. Now, I’m lucky enough to have a freeze-dryer at home – it’s an investment, I know, but it’s been so worth it. I spread the beef slices on the trays, making sure they weren’t overlapping.
- Get a freeze dryer
- Slice beef into small pieces.
- Spread them on trays.
- Start the machine.
I popped them into the freeze-dryer and let it do its thing. This part takes the longest. The machine does some cool magic, pulling out all the moisture from the beef while keeping it raw and full of nutrients.
After what felt like forever, the beef is finally ready. They are dry, lightweight, and surprisingly crunchy. I checked to make sure they were completely dry – any moisture left can lead to spoilage, and we don’t want that.
Why I did this?
The first time I gave these treats to my dogs, their reaction was priceless. They absolutely loved them! I mean, tails were wagging, and there were happy dances all around. And the best part? I knew exactly what was going into these treats – just pure, good quality beef.
Now, every time I open the jar where I store these treats, my dogs come running. It’s become our little ritual. And honestly, seeing them so happy and knowing I’m giving them something healthy makes all the effort worth it.
I’ve read online that freeze-dried treats are good for most dogs. They’re safe and convenient, which is a big plus for a busy dog mom like me. And from what I can tell, my dogs are thriving on them. They’re full of energy, their coats are shiny, and they’re just happy pups.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with making freeze-dried beef treats. It’s a bit of work, but it’s so rewarding. If you’ve got a freeze-dryer and some time on your hands, I highly recommend giving it a try. Your dogs will thank you for it!
I made a batch of these treats last week, and I’ve been giving them to my neighbor’s dog too – a picky little Shih Tzu. And guess what? Even he loves them! It’s been a hit with all the dogs in the neighborhood.

Alright, that’s it for my dog treat saga. Hope you guys found this helpful. If you do try it out, let me know how it goes. I’d love to hear about your furry friends enjoying some homemade, freeze-dried goodness!
