Hey guys, today I want to share a little trick I recently tried out – making frozen beef liver treats for my furry friend.

First, I got my hands on some fresh beef liver from the local butcher. The stuff is packed with vitamins and minerals, so I figured it would be a great addition to my dog’s diet.
- Bought some fresh beef liver.
- Rinsed it under cold water to clean it off a bit.
Then I sliced the liver into bite-sized pieces. I wanted them to be easy for my dog to handle and chew on. My dog is not big, so I sliced them quite small. Then I laid the pieces out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and popped them into the freezer. It took a couple of hours, but they eventually froze solid.
I also tried boiling some beef liver. Put it in a pot, added water, and boiled it. Pretty easy, and the natural flavors are still there.
My Thoughts
The whole process was way easier than I thought it would be. Honestly, I think freezing is simpler than boiling. And my dog? He absolutely loves them! Whenever I grab the container from the freezer, he goes nuts. It’s become his new favorite treat. I do worry that if I don’t freeze it long enough it may not be safe. But my dog has such a strong gut. And those freeze-dried ones in the store are so expensive! I just use this sparingly as a treat, so I figure it’s not a big deal.
If you’re looking for a healthy and cheap way to treat your dog, I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s a win-win – good for them and easy on your wallet!
But I am not sure about those guys saying freezing raw liver for 14 days is not safe. I guess I will just keep an eye on my dog to make sure he’s fine.
Alright, that’s my little kitchen adventure for the week. Let me know if you’ve tried something similar or have any other DIY dog treat recipes!
