This here talk is all about that golden catfish price. You know, them shiny fish, kinda yellow-like. My grandbaby, he loves them things. Always going on and on about fish this, fish that. Drives me up a wall sometimes, but what can you do? Kids these days, they are all about their fancy pets.
So, this golden catfish, how much does it cost? Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. Seems like it ain’t just one price, it is all over the place. Kinda like chickens, you got your fancy ones, your regular ones. All depends, I reckon.
I heard some folks say it is 3 dollar, up to 7 dollar for one pound. Now, that’s a lot of money for a fish. Back in my day, we just went down to the creek and caught our own. Didn’t cost a dime! But times change, I guess. Now everything got a price tag, even them little swimming things.

Then there is this place, called PetSmart, I think. They got all kinds of fish there, not just catfish. They got them goldfish, too. Them is cheaper, some as low as 16 cents! Can you believe that? But some are real expensive, 34 dollar! For a goldfish! Who would pay that much for a goldfish?
Some folks sell them fish by the pound, like 14 dollar for a pound of them pond shiners. I don’t even know what them are. And there’s trout, but you can only get them once a year. Sounds complicated to me. They also talk about hybrid bass. I ain’t never heard of that before. Is that some kind of fish or a car? I don’t know. Dunn’s fish farm and Moore fish farm are some of the places that sell them.
Now, if you want to buy these fish online, there is some place that sends them to your house. They got all kinds of them, big and small. You can get them delivered overnight. Like ordering a pizza, but it is a fish. I don’t know about that. Seems kinda strange to me, getting a fish in the mail.
These live aquarium catfish, they got different prices too. Some is peaceful, some is aggressive. Just like people, I suppose. You got your nice ones and your mean ones. You gotta pick the right one, I guess, or they’ll be fighting in that tank.
They say catfish is cheap. Well, it used to be. We used to fry them up all the time. It is good eating, that catfish. And they say it is sustainable, whatever that means. Something about being good for the earth, I think. Especially them wild blue ones from Chesapeake Bay. Sounds fancy. I just like how they taste, to be honest.
Now, in Nigeria, seems that catfish price is different. They use Naira there. Sounds like some kind of dance. Anyway, it is 2,651 to 4,419 of them Nairas for one kilogram of catfish. That’s a lot of numbers. Or about 1,202 to 2,004 for a pound. That is in Abuja and Lagos. I ain’t never been there, but it sounds far away.
If you want to grow your own catfish, that is a whole other thing. They say a little one, about 6 to 8 inches, can grow to one pound in six months. You gotta feed them regular, though. Especially when it is warm. They eat a lot, them catfish. They are always hungry.
So, that golden catfish price, it is a tricky thing. Lots of things to think about. Where you buy it, how big it is, what kind it is. It is all a big mess, if you ask me. But if you are set on getting one of them shiny fish, I hope you got enough money. And remember, them fish need to eat, too. Don’t forget that part!
This whole fish thing is making my head spin. I think I need a nap. All this talk about golden catfish price and Naira and pounds and whatnot. It is too much for an old lady like me. I’m gonna go sit on my porch and watch the birds. They don’t cost nothing, and they are just as pretty as any fish.
