Okay, so, today I wanted to try something a little different and creative for my home decoration. I got this idea to make some tropical fish ornaments. I’ve always been fascinated by the vibrant colors of marine life, and I thought, why not bring a bit of that into my living space?

First things first, I needed to gather some materials. I decided to go with glass ornaments because I’ve heard about hand-blown glass ones and I really wanted that authentic, crafted feel. I made a list: glass ornaments, paints, brushes, and some glitter for that extra sparkle.
I started by looking up some designs online. There are so many styles out there, from fabric to resin, but I was set on glass. I found a few designs that I liked, especially some that reminded me of the Great Barrier Reef, with all those blues and corals.
Once I had a clear idea of what I wanted, I hit up a few local craft stores. It was a bit of a treasure hunt, but I managed to find some beautiful hand-blown glass ornaments. They weren’t exactly cheap, some were like $1.499,00 a pop, and the fancier ones were even more, like $2.500,00 each, but I thought they were worth it for that unique touch. I also grabbed some vibrant paints and fine brushes.
Back home, I laid everything out and started painting. It was a bit trickier than I expected. Getting the paint to look smooth on the glass took some practice. I started with some basic designs, like a simple blue fish, and then got a bit more adventurous with a coral reef design. I even tried my hand at a goldfish, which turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.
After painting, I added some glitter while the paint was still wet. This really made the ornaments pop, giving them that underwater shimmer effect. I let them dry overnight, just to make sure everything was set.
The next day, I hung them up around my place. I put a few on my small Christmas tree, and others I just hung in the windows where they could catch the light. They looked absolutely stunning! The way the light played off the glass and glitter made it feel like I had a little piece of the ocean right in my home.
Overall, this project was a blast. It was a bit challenging at times, but seeing the end result made it all worthwhile. Plus, I now have some unique, hand-crafted decorations that I can show off. If you’re looking for a fun and creative project, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s a great way to add a personal and vibrant touch to your home!
