You know, I’ve always been that guy who’s into trying out new stuff for my dog, making sure he’s eating well and all. So, the other day, I got this idea to make beef powder for him. It sounded pretty good, and I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, it’s beef, and what dog doesn’t love beef, right?

So, I started looking into it. Apparently, beef broth is pretty okay for dogs as long as it doesn’t have a bunch of added salt and spices that could mess them up. It’s like a tasty way to add some flavor to their food. And I learned that beef fat can help them gain weight and make the food taste better, which is great if your dog is sick or recovering from surgery. They say it can help with wound healing and boosting their immune system, too.
Getting Started
First thing I did was hit the grocery store. I grabbed some beef – nothing fancy, just regular stuff. Oh, and I made sure to get some beef liver too. I read somewhere that it’s packed with vitamins and nutrients that are good for a dog’s coat and skin. I was thinking of mixing it into his regular diet or using it for treats.
- Bought the beef and beef liver: Checked.
- Prepped the ingredients: Washed them thoroughly.
The Process
I chopped up the beef into smaller pieces. Then I boiled it all in a big pot. No salt, no spices, just plain water. I let it simmer for a good while until the beef was super tender. The smell was actually making me hungry, not gonna lie. For the beef liver, I cooked it separately. I heard it’s better to introduce new foods slowly, so I didn’t want to mix it with the beef right away.
- Boiled the beef: Cooked it until it was nice and tender.
- Cooked the liver: Did this separately, just in case.
Making the Powder
After everything was cooked, I took the beef out and let it cool down. Once it was cool enough to handle, I put it in my blender. I pulsed it a few times until it looked like coarse sand. It was kind of a messy process, but hey, it’s all for my furry buddy. I did the same with the liver, blending it into a powder.
- Blended the beef: Turned it into a grainy powder.
- Blended the liver: Same deal, made it into a powder.
Storing It
I spread the beef powder out on a baking sheet and let it air dry for a few hours. I wanted to make sure it was completely dry so it wouldn’t get moldy. Then, I stored it in an airtight container. I did the same with the liver powder, keeping it in a separate container.
- Dried the beef powder: Let it sit out to dry completely.
- Stored the powder: Put it in airtight containers, labeled them clearly.
The Result
I started by adding just a little bit of the beef powder to my dog’s food. He went nuts for it! It was like I had given him the best meal of his life. After a few days, I started mixing in a bit of the liver powder, too. He seemed to have more energy, and his coat started looking shinier. It’s still early days, but I’m pretty happy with how it’s turned out. He loves it, and it seems to be doing him some good. So, yeah, that’s my little experiment with making beef powder for my dog. It was a bit of work, but seeing how much he enjoys it makes it all worth it.
I know some folks might think it’s a bit much, making your own dog food supplements and all. But I enjoy doing stuff like this. Plus, it feels good knowing exactly what’s going into his food. No hidden junk, just good ol’ beef and liver. I’ll probably keep doing this and maybe try out some other recipes too. Who knows what I’ll come up with next?
